CME Mission Statement

Purpose:

The mission of the Foundation for Excellence in Healthcare, Inc., is to raise the quality of live and online healthcare information through the development and distribution of original information, including clinical studies, research, publications, and continuing medical education activities for the empowerment of medical professionals and health care consumers.

Content Areas:

The content of activities is based on the need of medical professionals to acquire and update the knowledge and skills to provide health care to the healthcare consumer. The Foundation for Excellence in Healthcare, Inc., CME activities involve the following medical categories: allergy, cardiology, dermatology, gastroenterology, geriatrics, internal medicine, male health, nephrology, neurology, oncology, pain management, practice management, primary healthcare, psychological health, pulmonology, rheumatology, risk management, sexual health, sleep disorders, urology, vision, and women's health.

Target Audience:

The intended audience for the Foundation for Excellence in Healthcare, Inc., activities include primary care practitioners, specialists, and sub-specialists such as: allergists, cardiologists, dermatologists, primary healthcare providers, gastroenterologists, gerontologists, gynecologists, nephrologists, neurologists, obstetricians, oncologists, ophthalmologists, optometrists, pediatricians, psychiatrists, psychologists, pulmonologists, rheumatologists, and urologists as well as allied health care professionals.

Types of Activities Provided:

The Foundation for Excellence in Healthcare, Inc., designs activities in the following categories:

  • Live events: conferences, symposia, panel discussions, seminars, roundtables, and workshops.
  • Internet based, self-directed and distance learning materials using enduring materials such as: monographs, journal-based activities, online-based activities, and CD/DVD multimedia activities.
  • Collaborative CME activities.

Expected Results of the program:

CME activities are designed to raise awareness and convey information. As a result of participating in CME activities, it is expected that physicians will apply the information learned to their practice. The Foundation for Excellence in Healthcare, Inc., will continuously assess the effectiveness of its CME activities and is committed to measuring the impact of its CME activities. A review of the following components will be a part of the Foundation's expected outcomes evaluation:

  • Research and development of needs assessments; best knowledge translation methods; and outcomes measurement tools for the targeted audience(s) that develop effective and efficient financial and clinical practice management skills.
  • Identification of experts in healthcare and support to enable the effective translation of expert knowledge to medical professionals.
  • Collaboration with other organizations to produce independent quality CME activities.
  • Continual review of new technology and the best tools to assist physicians in the learning process.
  • Tracking and file maintenance of CME activities for outcomes measurements and assessments.
  • Continual review and synthesize of ACCME, legislative and industry-standard findings along with evaluation of the Foundation's activities, polices and procedures to ensure compliance, quality and effectiveness in delivering independent ethical based CME activities.
